I am assuming you are talking about buying the horse from another player, in this case, my answer is a resounding no. You should not be playing for real money or gold objects, except through the official store of WoW.
In any case, is $ 850 for an obscene amount of money to spend a virtual pet, regardless of how it would be cool. They would rather give the money to a local food bank or charity of your choice.
